Project Assist: Ask Questions Across Your Project

Last updated: March 2, 2026

Background

Project Assist lets you ask questions across all documents in a project simultaneously through a single chat interface. Instead of switching between individual files—separately chatting with each document or searching through PDFs one at a time—you can query your entire project document set, or a specific selection of documents within that project, from one conversation.

Construction projects involve many related documents that need to be understood together. Project Assist matches that reality by letting you ask questions across contracts, specs, amendments, subcontracts, and more at once. It's especially useful for:

  • Locating where specific information lives across your project documents

  • Summarizing how multiple documents address the same topic

  • Checking how an amendment or addendum modifies a requirement in the base contract

Things to Consider

  • Response times scale with the number of documents included in your query—the more documents, the slower the response. This is expected behavior

  • Focused, specific questions return more reliable answers than broad or open-ended ones. Instead of asking "Tell me everything about this project," try "What are the notice requirements for weather delays?"

  • You can query your entire project document set or narrow your scope to a specific selection of documents within the project

  • Your chat history is automatically organized into threads, sorted by most recent interaction. Threads are auto-named based on conversation context

  • Project Assist works best when reviewing related contract documents together, such as prime contracts and general conditions, GMP amendments, addenda and change orders, specifications, subcontracts, and RFIs

  • As your project evolves, you can add new documents—change orders, GMP amendments, new subcontracts—and continue querying without re-uploading or recombining files

Steps

Accessing Project Assist

  1. Navigate to your project in the dashboard

  2. Open the Project Assist tab within the project

Asking Questions Across Project Documents

  1. Type your question into the chat input field

Tip! Specific, topic-focused questions work better than broad ones. For example: "What are the liquidated damages provisions across all contracts?" or "How does the GMP amendment modify the schedule requirements in the base contract?"

  2. Press Enter or click the send button to submit your question

  3. Review the response, which will surface relevant information from across your project documents

  4. Click on any citation or source reference to view the specific document and location where the information was found

Managing Your Chat Scope

  1. To narrow your query to specific documents rather than the full project set, use the document selector to choose which files to include

  2. Adjust your selection as needed depending on the question you're asking

Working with Threads

  1. Your conversations are automatically saved and organized into threads

  2. To start a new conversation thread, begin a new chat

  3. To return to a previous conversation, select the relevant thread from your thread history, which is sorted by most recent interaction

Providing Feedback on Answers

  1. After receiving a response, use the thumbs up or thumbs down icon to rate the answer quality

  2. This feedback helps improve Project Assist over time
