PDF Markup Tools

Background

PDF Markup Tools provide a comprehensive suite of annotation and review features to help you assess and collaborate on your documents directly within Document Crunch. These tools allow you to highlight, redline, underline, add sticky notes, draw, and add text boxes with multiple color and configuration options. Use these tools when reviewing contracts with your team, marking up sections for internal discussion, adding notes for clarification, or preparing documents for client feedback.

Things to Consider

  • All markups will be visible to anyone who views this crunch

  • Markups are included when you download the document in PDF format

  • The markup panel shows document context, displaying the actual text that was selected for redlines, highlights, and underlines

  • Different color options are available to distinguish between different users or content types

  • You can access markup tools either by clicking the toolbar buttons or by selecting text first

Steps

Accessing the Markup Tools

  1. Open your document in the crunchview

  2. Locate the markup toolbar at the top of the document viewer

  3. Click the Markup panel button to open the right rail markup list view

Using the Select/Grab Tool

  1. Click the arrow icon to activate the select tool and highlight text for markup

  2. Click the hand icon to activate the grab tool and drag the document to navigate up and down

Adding Sticky Notes

  1. Click the Sticky note tool in the toolbar

  2. Click on the location in the document where you want to place the note

  3. Type your note content

  4. Select from different color options to organize or categorize your notes

Using Draw Tools

  1. Click on one of the draw tool options:

    • Text box: Add typed text anywhere on the document

    • Arrow: Draw arrows to point to specific content

    • Free drawing: Draw freehand on the document

  2. Select your preferred color from the color options

  3. Choose your line weight

  4. Click and drag on the document to create your markup

  5. To remove an item, click the delete/trash icon for that markup

Applying Text Markup

  1. Select the text you want to mark up

  2. Click on one of the markup options:

    • Highlight: Add colored highlighting to text

    • Redline: Strike through text

    • Underline: Add underlining to text

  3. Choose from different color options to distinguish between different users or content types

    Tip! The selected text will appear in the markup panel with full document context, making it easy to review what was marked up without scrolling through the entire document.

Reviewing Markups

  1. Click the Markup panel button to open the right rail

  2. Review the list of all markups with document context included

  3. Click on any markup in the list to navigate directly to that location in the document
