Chat Threads FAQ

How is my chat history organized?

Your conversations are organized into threads, with the most recent threads shown first. Threads are automatically named based on your conversation context. Both Project Assist threads and single-document chat threads appear in your history.

Can I rename a thread?

Yes. Click on the three-dot menu on the right side of a thread name to edit it (either in history or Project Assist). We recommend renaming threads to something descriptive for your project and topic so they're easy to find when searching your history if you revisit your threads often.

Can I delete a thread?

Yes. You can delete threads you no longer need from the thread sidebar by clicking the three-dot menu on the right side of the thread name and selecting the delete option.

Can I go back to an old thread and keep chatting?

Yes. Select any previous thread from the sidebar and continue the conversation where you left off. Your full history is preserved, and you can return to conversations days or weeks later without losing your prior Q&A context.

Can I search my threads?

Yes. You can search your thread history by title. Content-level search within threads is not yet available.

Can I change which documents I'm chatting with during a thread?

Yes. In Project Assist threads, you can add or remove documents from your chat scope within a thread. This lets you start broad and narrow down, or add new documents as needed without losing your conversation history.

Can I share a thread with my team?

Not yet. You can copy individual answers to share if you need to share information at this time. Full thread sharing functionality is not yet available.

What happens to my single-document chats?

Single-document chat still works as before when you open a document in crunch view using the Chat tool. Those conversations also appear in your thread history alongside your Project Assist threads.

Why do I see a new chat when I open Project Assist?

Project Assist defaults to a new thread each time you open it from the navigation bar or project dashboard. This keeps your topics separated from the start. You can always select an existing thread from the sidebar to continue a prior conversation or review old conversations.

How are threads named?

Threads are automatically named based on the content of your conversation after you ask your first question. CrunchAI generates a descriptive name so you can scan your thread list and find what you need. You can rename threads at any time to make them more specific to your needs.

Can I chat with multiple documents at once?

Yes, but only in Project Assist threads. In Project Assist, you can chat across multiple documents within a project. In single-document chat threads (opened from crunch view), you can only chat with that one document at a time.

Where can I see all my threads?

Your thread history is displayed in a sidebar panel in Project Assist and in the document chat. The history shows threads from your current team, sorted with the most recent at the top.
